We are looking for motivated individuals to work within our busy reception team. Experience of working in a GP practice is desirable but not essential as training will be given. Jobs will include scanning, answering telephones, dealing with patient enquires and updating patient records. The applicants must be able to demonstrate that they can work under pressure whilst delivering a high standard of patient care, teamwork, accuracy and confidentiality at all times.

We are looking for a motivated individual to take on a range of patient administrative tasks which will include; scanning and reading patient correspondence inputting this information accurately onto the patient’s computer record and identify and act on any information which requires follow up action. The individual must be able to demonstrate attention to detail, teamwork, accuracy and confidentiality at all times.

Experience of working in a GP practice is essential however we will consider all applicants on their experience and skills.

Practice Merger Update

On Friday 23rd June the final stage of the merger between Bank Street Surgery and Castlehead Medical Centre will take place.  This will be where the two clinical computer systems will be merged into one.  In order for this to happen the practice will have no computer system from 12.30pm on Friday 23rd June until 12 noon Monday 26th June. We will therefore only be seeing patients with medical emergencies and therefore ask for your patience during these hours.

If you were a Bank Street Patient and had online access to order medication and make appointments please note that from the 26th June you will need to re-register for this service, therefore please can you to call into the practice so that we can arrange this for you. You may be asked for some identification which will be either a driving licence or passport and address verification for example a utility bill or bank statement.

We hope that this will not cause too much inconvenience and we thank you for your patience.

Merger Update

The merger between Castlehead Medical Centre and Bank Street Surgery was completed on 1st May.
The premises on Bank Street is now closed and all Bank Street Patients can contact Castlehead Medical Centre on 017687 72025.

The Practice and Dispensary Closure Dates

The Practice and Dispensary will be closed in the afternoon on the following dates for Protected Learning Time for Staff Development.

We have reason to believe that the above company are calling patients and implying that they are from Castlehead Medical Centre when in fact they are not.

We have no connection with this company.  They do not have any information from Castlehead Medical Centre with regard to your health care record or personal details. 

We would like to assure all patients that all patient health care record details are kept strictly confidential.

Patient Online Services

This practice offers all patients (over the age of 16 years) the facility to book, view, amend, cancel and print appointments online.

This practice offers all patients (over the age of 16 years) the facility to order online, view and print a list of their repeat prescriptions for drugs, medicines or appliances.

The Practice offers all patients (over the age of 16 years) the facility to view online, export or print any summary information from their medical record, relating to medications, allergies, adverse reactions and any other items agreed between the practice and individual patient.

Patient Access

Please note that when you register for Patient Online Access, your initial login is restricted until you visit the practice to complete an application form and present the following documents:

Photo Identification:
Passport or photocard driving license

Proof of Address:
Utility bill
Bank statement
Council tax
Insurance statement
Mortgage statement

All the above documents need to be current within the last 3 months

Only on visiting the practice and providing the above documentation will you be able to have full patient access.

Practice Statement – Named GP for all patients

All patients at our practice have a named GP to oversee their care.
You may already have been told who your named GP is at some point during the last 12 months.  For those of you who have not yet been told, our aim is to let you know at the next contact made with the practice. If your named GP leaves the practice we will inform you of his or her replacement.

What does this mean for you?

You are unlikely to see any notable change in the way care is delivered to you by our practice, just a formalisation of our current process.
The responsibilities of your named GP will be to:

  • Take the lead responsibility for ensuring that all appropriate services required by you from the GP practice are provided.
  • Where required, use their professional judgement, to work with relevant health and social care professionals to deliver a care package that meets your needs.
  • Ensure your physical and psychological needs are recognised and responded to by the relevant clinicians in the practice
  • Ensure you have access to a health check if requested.

These responsibilities will be carried out within the opening hours of the surgery and do not change the way you or other patients currently access care outside of these hours.

You must continue to book appointments with the practice in the same way. You do not necessarily have to book your appointment with your named GP; you can see any GP of your choice.

Please note that despite our GPs working with other health and social care professionals to deliver your care needs, they do not take on the responsibility for the care others deliver to you. If you have concerns about any care provided by a health and social care professional outside of the practice, this should be raised directly with them, or their organisation.
